The Diversity of Core-Collapse Supernovae in the Era of Time-Domain Surveys

The Diversity of Core-Collapse Supernovae in the Era of Time-Domain Surveys“.
Abstract
Core-collapse Supernovae (CCSNe) constitute a diverse class of stellar explosions arising from the deaths of massive stars (greater than 8 M☉). The observed diversity in their spectral and photometric properties is often attributed to the amount of envelope material retained at the time of explosion. However, the discovery of extreme objects challenges this interpretation, suggesting additional factors may play a significant role. In this talk, I will review the observed diversity of CCSNe and discuss the implications for their progenitors, including insights into newly discovered peculiar events. I will also outline the current observational framework and explore the challenges posed by the next generation of wide-field sky surveys.
