Abstract

In this talk I will discuss how gravitational waves can act as magnifying lenses of the fundamental interactions that govern the structure of relativistic stars. I will review in particular the modelling and phenomenology of neutron star binary mergers, explaining how matter effects during the inspiral can leave detectable imprints on the emitted signals, and their relevance for studying the equation of state of nuclear matter.
